The survey, covering Murray, West Jordan, South Jordan and Midvale, produced encouraging results, including the birth of one new Junior Troop and four new Brownie Troops. Another result of the survey was the naming of sufficient numbers of new girls interested in the Girl Scout movement to fill at least two more new Junior and three more Troops Brownie Troops. The survey also points up the need for new Girl Scout leaders before local troop development can succeed. Mrs White contends "there are more than enough girls eager to join, but we cannot find adults willing to give of their time to provide troop leader- ship". Mrs White is current-- I ly attempting to staff these new troops with adult women who have children of scouting age or Senior Citizens who are interested in directing a com- munity service program in Girl Scouting. The need for leaders, eith- -I er experienced or trainable, is critical. Those ladies in- -i terested in the Girl Scouts and in participating in the benefits scouting offers young ladies of Utah, contact Mrs White at or Mrs Richard Smith at for additional information. Boren says this figure Is down from the record fall quarter enrollment of 2,673 in daytime programs. But, he adds, the College normally notes slight decreases In winter and spring quarter enrollments each year. College Pres. Jay L. Nelson says this quarter's enrollment was expected to be at about the same level as fall quarter enrollment this school year. He says the drop is aue to several factors, but that one of them could be the lack of federal education funds available to new students, such as Equal Opportunity Grants. He notes that these federal funds were used up during the first three months of this school year. He adds that student still are available loans through the college. New class openings offered at the college this quarter were architectural drafting, drafting and design, printing, Richard Lawson. Brian Fairbourn is recovering from surgery.
