Clements, Wood St., spent a week in the Holy Cross Hospital. Mr & Mrs Willard Kemp, West Center St., and Mrs Richmotored ard Kemp, Salt Lake, to Logan Wednesday to the Logan LDS Temple, where they cereattended the marriage mony of Mrs Richard Kemp's brother, Clyde Heiner, Salt Lake, and Miss Gail Tanner, Preston, Ida. Friday they will attend the open house in honor of the newlyweds at the home of Mr & Mrs Mont Heiner, Ogden, parents of the groom. Mrs Richard Kemp was guest of honor at a dinner recently on her birthday. It was held at the home of Miss Betty Quist, Salt Lake, and hosted by her and Mr & Mrs Willard Kemp. Other guests were Clyde Heiner, Richard Kemp, Miss Sharon Smith and partner, Salt Lake, and Pamela Kemp, Mid-val- & Mrs 255-360- 1 Mr & Mrs Lee Dumas and family, Harrison St., attended a family holiday party at the Riverton Fire Hall. Also attending were Mr & Mrs Gary Coul-aand son, Shane, Salt Lake; Mr & Mrs John A. Fensterma-ker- , Sandy; Ivan Fernsterma-ke- r and his fiance, Miss Dian-n- a Adams, Sandy. They enjoyed visiting with their grandmother, Mrs Delia Bills, River-ton- . A pot luck supper was enjoyed. Gifts were exchanged during the evening. Mr & Mrs J. Elmo Sager, Jefferson St., entertained at Eve. dinner on Christmas Guests were their son and family, Mr & Mrs David Sager, Fork. Mr & Mrs Ray G. Sharp, Olympus St., attended a Christmas party recently for members of the Foreign Language League in Brighton. Dinner and dancing to a combo were enjoyed. Attending a family Christmas party recently were Mr & Mrs Ronald Talbot, 6th Ave. The event was held at the home of Mrs Talbot's brother, Mr & Mrs Lee Booth, Granger. Gifts were also exchanged. Mr & Mrs Leno Menghini and six children, Sheridan, Wyo., spent Christmas week end with her mother, Mrs Caroline Tron-tel- , 5th Ave. Arriving Friday night for the week end was Mrs Trontel's son, Matt Trontel, Elko, Nev. On Christmas Day Mrs Trontel entertained at dinner. Other guests were Mrs Trontel's daughter and family, Mr & Mrs Jerry Jacnik, Mid-val- e. The Jenkins Cousins Club Christmas party was held Thursday afternoon. Luncheon at a Salt Lake cafe was enjoyed by 16 cousins. AN ORDINANCE REGULATING DISPOSITION THE THERETO. the Town of West Jordan has heretofore in the manner and form by law required enacted ordinances relating to the disposition and collection of garbage within said Town and particularly with ordinances thereto respect Nos. 7, 34 and 36; and, WHEREAS, the actual collection of garbage and refuse performed in said Town has been by Salt Lake County and Salt Lake County is ready and willing, with 'the cooperation of the Town, to continue to collect said garbage; and, WHEREAS, the Town of West Jordan and Salt Lake County having made inquiry and investigation have determined that substantial economy can be effected by the utilization of a special garbage container, conpaper bag sisting of a two-plmanufactured by St. Regis Paper Company and that in addition to economies, the use of such container has additional benefits to the citizens in improved sanitation, prevention of odor, inaccessibility of the contents to flies, rodents, or animals and prevention of spillage on collection; and, WHEREAS, the County and the Town have determined that to effectuate a proper test of said equipment and to enable the County and the Town to realize for the benefit of the citizens of the community the economies and advantages resulting from the use of the said improvement equipment, it is necessary that all of the citizens of the Town cooperate in making use of the said equipment; -- nd, WHEREAS, County and the Town have agreet to supply , fifty, thirty gallon garbage bags, together with the holder therefor to each householder free of charge and to maintain a supply of additional bags for householders needing or requiring more than fifty bags per year, which bags shall be available at the Town offices at the prevailing price which is presently 11c per bag, or which may be purchased in commercial stores at a comparable price; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interest of the residents and citizens of said Town that said garbage collection system be tested for a period of not less than three years, and to" this end a contract has been made with Salt Lake County to utilize the said garbage containers. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED by the Board of Trustees of the Town of West Jordan that: 1. The Board of Trustees of the Town of West Jordan may provide for the collection and disposal at the expense of the said Town or otherwise of garbage, waste, and other refuse from the residences of. the inhabitants of the Town of West Jordan, said collection to be under the supervision of the Department of Sanitation of Salt Lake County. 2. The Town of West Jordan and the Sanitation Department of Salt Lake County in cooperation and at such division of expense as may be determined between them, shall furnish prior to the effective date hereof, to eafch householder or resident, for each private residence in the Town limits of the Town of West Jordan one container or bagholder, together with a one year supply of bags, namely fifty bags said bags to be , thirty gallon paper bags manufactured by the St. Regis Paper ompany. 3. It shall be the duty of each householder, or occupant of each private residence, within the Town of West Jordan, to utilize the paper bag system for trash and garbage- collection commencing on the day 19 of , and the Town and the County shall be authorized and are hereby authorized to refuse to collect waste, trash or garbage from any private residence within the Town of West Jordan v.uercin the householder or occupant fails to employ the paper bag system. 4. The paper bag containing the trash, waste, paper, refuse, debris from the household for collection shall on the designated collection day or days be deposited on the outside of the building in the street at a place which is readily accessible to the collector. 5. Provisions of this ordinance shall relate to on'y the regular ' weekly collection of garbage and refuse from the WHEREAS, y residences within the Town of West Jordan and shall not relate to or be applicable to special trash collections made by the Town or the County of yard debris during the course of clean up campaigns. 6. It shall be unlawful for any person to throw, dump, or in any manner deposit any trash, junk or other refuse upon any public street, sidewa'k or other public place within the Town of West Jordan. 7. It shall be unlawful for any resident, householder or person in the Town limits of the Town of West Jordan to permit the accumulation of garbage or refuse or waste or debris attractive to rodents or flies or which is capable of the production of an offensive odor without containing the same in a suitable container capable of a tight closure to prevent access by flies, rodents, animals and the escape of odors therefrom. 8. Any person, firm or corporation violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than $10.00 and not more than $99.00, or may be committed to jail for not more than ten days on each offense. 9. Ordinances Nos. 7, 34 and 36 of the Town of West Jordan are modified by the terms of this ordinance insofar as it rer lates to the container used for the disposition and collection of garbage, but in all other respects the said ordinances are ratified and confirmed.
