Democrat Curt Oscarson's 3,552 votes (51.73) trounced Republican Clark Rebel's 2,901 (42.25) to retain legislative district 42 for the Democrats. American party candidate Judy Throckmorton gathered 413 votes for 6.02 percent of the district total. Mont Evans Republican votes to 5,872 gathered Democratic challenger David Browne's 3,019 to retain his district 44 House seat by a 66.04 to 33.96 margin.
