Show TUESDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER The Salt Lake Telegram. 103. 17. TAXPAYERS HASTEN TO NEW Y. M. C. A. HOUSE 0 Brick and Stonework on Handsome New Struc- ture Will O The contract for the brick and stone work of the new Young Men's Chris- ; tian association permanent home at the corner of State and First South streets, rest to the hew building cf the Independent Telephone company and the old city hall, were let yesterday. The firm of Engdahl & Andean received the contract and announced that the work would bfgin at once. The building, it is hoped, will be ready for occupancy in one year. The plans for the building were drawn by Architect J. A. Ileadlund, and call for one of the handsomest, most convenient and thoroughly modern structures ever built for such a purpose. The frontage will be ninety-on- e feet on State street with a depth of 129 feet on First South street. It will be three stories in height, and will be of buff brick with stone trimm'ngs. upon a foundation of sufficient strength to sui'tain three additional stories when their use becomes necessary. The building throughout, including floors, will be fireproof. The first floor entrance to the build-inon State street will open into a large lobby, 2Sx."iO feet in size, on the south side of which will be the gcnpral offices of the association, a committee-rooparlor, buffet and a private while on the north side will be the general reading-roofor men in front. wTTn the library between this and the boys' department further back, which will have an entrance on State street. Th boys' department will also be m close-- touch with the oftices of the .secretary and the physical director, and at the east end of the main lobby will be the public entrance to th5 gymnasium, which will extend the full width of the building at the rear end. There will be private entrances to the gymnasium, for the use of the bov? leading from the swimming pools in the basement. The second story will be reached by a stairway leading from the main lobby on the first floor. This will contain a foyer at the landing: the auditor I. Jtn with a seating eaoacitv of 4.": lub dormitory parlors;' ladies' waiting- room : and dormitories for inernho;-.?At the east end a running track will over- look the giryr.asnum on the first floor.
