Jenkinson, whose home Is In Corpus Christi, Tex., and whose hobby i3 the collection of human skulls, is expected to arrive in this city eome day next week on a trip thiough to the coast. His is possibly the most curious of any fad to date. Arriving in Salt Lake Mr. Jer.'-inso- n will immediately advertise in the newspapers for human skulls, for wnlch, if in good condition, he will pay a high price. He is paid at this time to have 343 perfect specimens of skulls, which represent the human of many ages and are a source of constant study to their owner. In his youth Mr. Jenkinson was a student of anatomy and becoming intensely interested in the construction of the human frame, gradually acquired a tarte for this form of ,,i Jenkinson began his career as a collector cf skulls in 187. During exca vations in St. Joseph, Mo., on property belonging to his father, several specimens of an ancient race were exhumed and were straight way taken possession of. They are now among his collection. He hus visited the former in Colohomes of the inound-buildrado and New Mexico, where other specimens of the ancient inhabitants were discovered. differine: materially from those found in Ft. Louis.. Then Jenkinson visited the Holy Land, in search of other skulls, and then he drifted to the land that once was held by the Ptolemys of Egypt. Here some valuable acquisitions t collection were made. The Pampas of South America, the mountains of Peru and Chile and the wilds of the Amazon have all contributed to his collection. In these regions perfect specimens of the human skull were brought to light, which represented periods of which we have no history. Sees Beauty in Skulls. Tn speaking of his hobby and collection, Mr. Jenkinson says: "In my experience I have found that Home skulls take on a beautiful polish, and I must say that under the hand of a skilled artisan they are made magnificent. These specimens occupy a cabinet by themselves. I have a number of skulls taken from the wreck of the Galveston storm. I also have specimens from other disasters on this and other continents. Five victims of th Mount Pelee disaster are represented in my collection. This business of collecting skulls is a great aid in the study . and retention of important facts in '"I have in mv Tossef.-iothe skulls of men at times prominent in the hi tory of this Nation. How I came to have them I do not care to say. How-- ever, money is a means of gratifying ihe tastes of any one who cares to make a collection of thL; kind."
