Firm Brings 4th Vol ume of 'Utah S in gs' Now Off Press The fourth volume of "Utah Sirtgs," anthology of contempo rary verse by Utah authors, has been published by the Utah State Poetry Society. Representing some 204 Utah writers, the xolume is the first in the series to be published since 1953. It follows, then, that this anthology of 204 Utah poets is a much needed oasis for it has I been 10 years since a previous one was published. The introduction, "Rebirth of Poetry in America" by the editor, Ann Hafen, presents the aim of the book which , is to bring readable poetry to the general public and at the same time furnish an audience for Utah writers. The collection does this. As it Is a cross sec tion of Utah talent ranging from the teens to the tired, it is not all good literature. But what of that? Robert Graves, the great English poet and critic says, in speaking of such emi nent targets as' Browning, By ron, and Kipling, that nine- tenths of their poetry is a choice between Vulgarity and Dananty. uut 3K ts tne re h, or the one maining line, or the cue verse that holds unforgetable greatness.
