William W. Scranton faces the ticklish task of luring national convention delegates off the Goldwater bandwagon if he is to come close to winning the GOP presidential nomination. Sen. Barry Goldwater already has too many delegates lined up to be denied the nomination, unless a sizeable number can be persuaded or frightened into breaking away from him. It is this process which will be hazardous for Scranton. It would do him little good to upset Goldwater and win the GOP nomination if, in so doing, he alienated most of the senator's supporters. They might then decide to sit out the election, and the GOP heeds all the workers :'. it can get.
