Provo's fall elections set a record for apathy on the part of the citizenry as far as candidates went. Mr. Oldroyd and the two city judges were automatically elected (although the city went through the motions of an election concerning them) because of no opposition. Commissioner Clegg had one opponent in the final election, and because there were only two candidates, the city skipped the primary voting. It was the first time in the history of the city, so far as anyone now can check or re; i member, that a major elective office like auditor went, on the ballot with only one candidate. When Commissioner Clegg takes his oath of office he will rejoin Mayor Verl G. Dixon and Commissioner Smoot Brim-ha-ll on the city's top governing body. Terms of Mayor Dixon and Commissioner Brimhall each have two years to run. Eureka Elks Hold Annual Festivity Eureka Lodge EUREKA No. 711, B.P.O. This will be the first time Provo has had iwo city judges. It has been eligible for a second judge for some time but until now no one has sought the office. The present judge, Judge Mey servy, often holds cases in his chambers, leaving the city courtroom free. But problem is many cases must be scheduled months in advance, with place of hearing stated. Sometimes, one of the three district courtrooms are free but again, there is no way of knowing several months in advance at time of case setting. City Personnel Officer R. Glenn Olsen sees need for another court clerk for the second judge. Recently, Kathleen Evans was hired to work in the city court clerk's office, but she replaces Mrs. Betty Gullion, who resigned to have a baby.
