No single organization in the county has as large a Christmas aid program annually as the Provo Elks Lodge whose members make it their principal, by no means their only, philanthropy. This year the Elks Lodge, , un- der the overall 'direction of Christmas Chairman' Charles L. This program cared for 65 families with a total of 313 children, and when the rolls were cleared several days ago, only two families remained to be aided by the Elks who already had 13 other Provo families they had investigated and added to their own lists. The Elks Lodge has been the mainstay of the program for many years, always standing ready to take what families remained as Christmas near-ed- ., This year, because generous individuals, organizations and school classes were so willing to serve as there were, only two families left for the Elks when it was all over.? This year the Provo LDS Seminary was the principal contributor to the program, with virtually every class in the seminary pitching an d to take of the total children on the rolls. Still Not Through The Elks Lodge still was not through with its Christmas project as Christmas day dawned this morning. At 10:30 a. m.-- today, lodge members will take Santa Claus, a special program, and an individual gift out to every elderly person in the Eldred Sunset Manor. General Chairman Monson said fully 100 members of the' lodge and about 20 wives worked on the Sub-For-Sa- nta 11 Sub-For-San- Subs-For-San- ta ta, project, this year. His key chairmen were: TomTennity, finance; Lt Warreix R. Hayden Max Bray, purchasing; Richard Smith, public relations; Seth Billings, Eldred Sunset Manor, and Tom Bullock, widows of Elks. Investigating chairmen for each, community were Orlan Gagon, Provo; Charles Childress, Oreni; Joe Manning, Lehi; Frank Kasp-e- r, American . Hayden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed, B Newman, of Pleasant Grove, has recently been assigned to the 32nd Bombardment Squadron here. Lieutenant Hayden entered active duty with the U.S. Air Force in Jan., 1959.
