Nephi Flood prevention works, carried out under Small. Watershed projects, fall in twb broad brackets land treatment and structural measures, he reports. Structural works might include improvements of channels to allow runoff to pass without dam-agwater retention dams and debris or sediment basins. On sloping .land, such upland conservation practices as terraces, seedlings, and forage management may be needed. Structures and other measures give only partial protection unless soil and water conservation practices are applied on individual farms and ranches and on public lands of the Annual Christmas program of the Dixon Junior High will be presented Wednesday Dec. 16. at 7:30 p. m. for all parents and patrons of the school. The Small Watershed Act requires a local sponsoring organization to obtain agreements to carry out recommended land treatment work through farm plans with owners, with at least half of the lands above each re tent iori. reservoir to be installed under, the act The committee reports that practically all privately owued land on the watershed itself has been signed up under agreement. Most of this land is owned by the Triangle Ranch Of Goshen and by Orgill brothers of Nephi. Range sites and condition surveys have been made on this land and conservation plans are in the process of being worked up. The plan being worked up on the Triangle Ranch calls for a de ferred grazing system that will provide for grazing being deferred until after seed maturity at regular intervals. The Orgills have land that Is well adapted to grass, nd they are considering a range seeding program. The cost of these practices can be shared through the agricultural conservation program or the watershed ENDS "(III- Mrs. Millie Herbert visited in Loa recently with a brother, Doyle Jackson, and family and program. with Academy Beloved Infidel, Grepory Peck. p K, 15, 1959 PROVO I o t ; -- secretary-treasure-r.
