BLUE TO YELLOW TO WHITE A , er e. s 7 Application of the Objectives Set Forth In Human Rights Day Declaration Urged by Reader Editor Herald: Last Thursday organizations are the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of the Unite j States and "the Ba'ha'i International Community. Their interest is' prompted and sustained by the teachings and spirit of their faith,' the pivot of which is the oneness of mankind. Significantly, the word "rights' seldom' appears y in the Baha'i sacred writings. Baha'is, are enjoined to think about reciprocal responsibilities and obligations j' to their fellowmen everywhere, and to fear only the' duty left undone. Right now that duty, appears! to urge our governments to "sign and become a party to the covenants now before ' the U.N. General Assembly as another step toward world peace. !' j' Sincerely yours, John W, Conkling, Secretary Baha'is of Provo Human was Rights Day. It .marked" the anniversary of the adoption by the United Natipns. General, Assembly of a statement on the inherent and inalienable rights of .people everywhere . i a first in the history o international justice for all mankind. It was proclaimed by the Assembly, without a. dissenting vote, as the Universal- Declaration of Human Iliffhts; For several years a copy of this declaratioa has been on display in the Provo - to other road users. Failure to signal intent often causes a dangerous situation and can be illegal, hazardous, or improper. 'Such behavior is usually in violation of some law. Delayed perception is the failure of the average driver to see or perceive danger of aft impending accident soon enough with normal road and weather condi- tionn. Evasive action' is the re action of the traffic unit to the n dangerous situation that perceived. Family action may cause serious conditions, and thus a more severe accident. After an accident has occurred, what should you do? The following nine listed items are most helpful to law enforcement officers when1 they are called to the scene of the accident: 1. temper. 2 Turn off Keep yqur ' engine and don't smoke. 3 Put out flags Or flares- - 4 Get witnesses. 5 Get all the details, 6 Make a diagram. 7 Listen for admissions. everything down. 9 Call the police and insurance agent. Although you have had the misfortune of wrecking your vehicle and possibly ruining a record, don't complete the job by misconstruing the report of the accident. The members of the Utah County. Safety Committee urge the public to become familiar with these most common causes of accidents and the nine rules to follow if an accident occurs. Knowing what to do andhow to do it will be of great help to law enforcement officers. The Safety Committee is composed of Ernest Dean, general chairman, Guy Callahan, Bruce Ashton, Jesse Reeder, and Val Johnson. has-bee- no-accid- ent VA Officio!
