By MADOLINE C. DEXON PAYSON Dr. A; L. Curtis, 82, - The event was, held prior to the opening of the new west wing recently added to the hospital. About 150 doctors, nurses and personnel, together witn their partners, attended. Food was furnished by those attending, with cooperation such that even a piano, and phonograph were loaned for the event. Dinner was served at tables set up in the long hall adjacent to the new rooms of the institution. Reads History Dr. M. L. Oldroyd was maste of ceremonies and read. a history ol Dr. Curtis. Mayor G. O. Dun-for- d gave the address of welcome and toasts were given by Mrs. Byron Montague, a. nurse, and Mrs. Larry Butler, supervisor of nurses. Musical jaumbers were given by staff members and " guests. George Cheever, hospital manager, presented ; a gift pen and pencil set to the doctor on behalf of the hospital personnel and Dr. Leonard Foote presented him with a floor lamp on behalf of the staff doctors. Dr. Curtis responded with brief remarks. Dr. Curtis was born in Salem on Feb. 3, 1877, He graduated from Northwestern Medical School in June, 1911, and set up his office in Payson soon afterward. He has practiced continuously in Payson more than 48 years and is still active in his profession. He is still interested in a number of other endeavors, one of which is 'his farm at ,' Genola. ' - Served as Mayor Dr. Curtis was mayor of Payson during 1932 and 1933 and prior to this time he was a member of the city council for six years.
