STRAWBERRIES Band Uniform Fund Campaign A Dixon Junior High School girl participating in an "accuracy marathon," has typewritten 60 words per minute for thirty min utes without error. Dorothy Jensen, a ninth grade student, set the record recently. Mr. R. Eldon Crowther, Dixon business teacher, said that the t reason for the marathon is to stress the importance' of accuracy in typewriting. A person who can type 45 words a minute without error is a greater asset to an em ployer than one who types 60 words a minute and makes many mis takes, said Crowther. Stressing accuracy, Mr. Crowther has students write as long as possible without error. They are allowed to type as slowly as they wish, and can leave the manuscript and come back again, as long a"s they write4 without error. When the first error is made, the students turn in all the work done, up until the error was made. ; The record- - set by Dorothy was significant because it was done in one thirty minute period at the rate of 60 words per minute. Mr. Crowther said that much of the accuracy rate in typing depends upon the correct mental attitude. He said that some students could carry on without error even if "someone set a firecracker under them." U.S. Good i LUNCH MEAT tjiii r rurecr .211)S.59c ..ib.
