Director McIntire wants to showcase mountain west art SCOTT IWASAKI The Park Record There’s a new gallery in town, and it’s director Megan McIntire means to do business. She describes the art as “contemporary and traditional mountain west” style. and traditional mountain west art and bring those works together in an eclectic collection that will appeal to collectors from all over the world,” she said. “When clients come in, I want them to not only see some bits of Park City, but also art that will remind them of home.” McIntire had been thinking about opening a gallery for the past several years she worked with Colby Larsen at Park City Fine Art. “In the past 18 months, I decided to take on that goal head on,” she said. McIntire signed the lease for the space, located below the new L.L. Bean at the intersection of Main Street and Heber Avenue at the former site of the Kimball Art Center a year ago. While she waited on construction, McIntire used the time to find artists. “I had quite a while to be selective in choosing the artists, which I really appreciated,” she said. “It was about finding artists whose pieces worked well but didn’t compete with each other.” McIntire also wanted to offer art that hasn’t been seen in Park City. “Every artist that I represent is new to the area,” she said. S.R. 224. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature live music by Park City Beethoven Festival founder Leslie Harlow and her husband Russell and the Park City Treble Makers. The Salt Lake Men’s Choir looks forward to spreading some yuletide cheer in Park City next week. “We love being up there,” said artistic director Dennis McCracken. “We have a lot to offer the people of Park City as far as our music goes.” The choir will perform the concert, titled “Remembering Decembers,” at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 4595 Silver Springs Drive. “‘Remembering Decembers’ is also a title of a piece we do that is written, composed and arranged by Pinkzebra,” McCracken said.
