The cast and crew of Keith Gordon’s “A Midnight Clear” gather on the soundstage, which is now the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium stage, during a break in 1992. The front row includes actors Frank Whalley, Kevin Dillon, Arye Gross, Ethan Hawke and Peter Berg. SCOTT IWASAKI The Park Record Keith Gordon’s 1992 war drama “A Midnight Clear” is a bridge that connects Park City Film and the Park City Historical Society. The film, which is scheduled to screen at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, fits with the Park City Film’s new Made In Utah program because it was one of the first films shot entirely in Park City, said Katharine Wang, Park City Film executive director. “Over the years, we get requests from Utah-based filmmakers to show feature-length films over the course of the year,” she said. “So this year we decided to create a program where we can have a place to show independent films that were either made by Utah filmmakers, or shot here or both.” “A Midnight Clear” also fits in with the historical society, the organization that oversees the Park City Museum, because it used historical build- WHAT MY CLIENTS ARE SAYING “Sheila is a dedicated, top notch real estate professional. Morrison first heard about the film a few years ago from her friend, Rick Brough, a reporter for KPCW. “He talked about how they shot some of the scenes inside the (current) library and thought it would be fun to actually watch it in the auditorium,” Morrison said. “And Rick’s dream will happen on Monday.” “A Midnight Clear” takes place in 1944, after a group of American soldiers led by Sgt. Will Knott, portrayed by Ethan Hawke, encounter small squad of battle-hardened Germans and strike a deal to take them prisoner and end their fighting. The American troop, tired of war, discover that its German counterpart is are also weary of fighting. The film also stars Peter Berg, future director of blockbusters like “Friday Night Lights” and “Lone Survivor,” Gary Sinise in his feature film debut and Kevin Dillon, who would go on to portray Johnny “Drama” in the HBO series “Entourage.” “One of the film’s crew, Margaret Hillyard, who was the production manager, said the cast actually went to boot camp to learn how to be soldiers,” Morrison said. Hillyard, who lived in New York at the time, fell in love with Park City and moved here after the filming, according to Morrison. “She is one of the Park City Museum’s members now,” Morrison said. “She always tells me how cold she was ESTATE SALE OAKLEY ESTATE SALE (20 MINUTE DRIVE FROM PARK CITY) SATURDAY NOVEMBER 10TH • 9AM-3PM THIS ESTATE SALE FEATURES UPSCALE HOME DECOR AND ACCENTS: REMINGTON RATTLESNAKE SCULPTURE, HORSE BRONZE SCULPTURE BY VERYL GOODNIGHT, TWO LARGE ORIENTAL RUGS, ANTIQUE POOL TABLE, LARGE CONFERENCE TABLE AND TWELVE UPHOLSTERED CHAIRS, TWO COFFEE TABLES, ANTIQUE SKIS AND SNOWSHOES, WESTERN AND NATIVE AMERICAN DECOR, INDIAN BLANKETS, CRYSTAL, CHINA, SILVER, ARTHUR COURT, WALL ART, RUSTIC VINTAGE ITEMS, PRIMITIVES, LINENS, SMALL ACCENT FURNITURE, ELECTRONICS, BOOKS, FURS, DESIGNER CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES, HOLIDAY ITEMS, ROLL-AWAY TOOLBOX, CHOP SAW, PRESSURE WASHER, TABLE SAW, CORDLESS TOOLS, HAND TOOLS AND GARAGE ITEMS! 4383 NORT RIVER ROADH , OAKLEY For pictures, go to www.facebook.com/LegacyEstateSale Presented by LEGACY Liquidation Company, LLC. / Ron Dubberly, Proprietor Certified Appraiser. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate more than 100 million American adults have been diagnosed with the condition. Those numbers are staggering, said Beth Armstrong, executive director of the People’s Health Clinic. “This is about as a big an epidemic that ever was, and no one really talks about it,” Armstrong said. “Diabetes is known as a silent killer because it can go on for years and years undetected.” This is why her nonprofit is partnering with the American Diabetes Association, Park City Hospital and the Summit County and Wasatch County health departments to present a free diabetes health fair. The event will run from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the People’s Health Clinic, 650 Round Valley Drive at Quinn’s Junction. Diabetes is a condition when a person has higher-than-normal blood sugar levels. Type 1 diabetes is diagnosed when a patient’s body doesn’t produce insulin to counter those levels, and Type 2 describes when a patient produces some, but not enough. The fair will be set up with stations that will offer testing, diabetes education and tips on healthy eating and physical activity, as well as prize giveaways, Armstrong said. The first station will be a diabetes risk test conducted by Summit County Health Department. “If we detect someone is at risk, we’ll refer them to the Wasatch County Health Department table for the (risk test),” Armstrong said. The blood test, called the A1c, measures blood sugar levels. From there people will receive a body mass index assessment from the PC MARC. A person’s BMI score is measured by dividing their height in inches squared by their weight in pounds squared, with that result multiplied by 703. The fair will also feature the American Diabetes Association and counselors from the National Alliance on Mental Health Utah. “Many people who are diagnosed with diabetes do suffer from depression, because the disease changes their lifestyles,” Armstrong said. “So we’ll have counselors for people who may need counseling.” The last station will be a physical education booth staffed by Park City Hospital’s LiVe Well Please see Fair, C-7 Diabetes Health Fair When: 3-6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14 Where: People’s Health Clinic/Summit County Health Department, 650 Round Valley Drive Cost: Free Web: peopleshealthclinic. org.
