This double-elimination tournament begins at 1 p.m. and goes until the Park City Cornhole Champions are crowned. The cost is $20 per team. Trophies are awarded to the winners. In between the ski races and competitions that take place in the area are many other leagues comprised of passionate athletes and participants. The athletes in these leagues are adults looking for a competitive fix. And the purpose of these adult recreational sports leagues -- locally run by Park City Recreation and Basin Recreation -- is simply for those participating to enjoy one another’s company. “It’s just a really fun environment for them to come and get out of their work,” said Lauren Howerter, another recreation coordinator for Park City Recreation. “[They can] go hang out with their friends and have a couple of beers. Basically, just have fun.” Park City Recreation offers a number of adult recreational leagues, including softball, kickball, basketball, soccer, volleyball and flag football. Within each sport, there are varying leagues, with some containing competitive or recreational divisions. COMMUNITY FISHING EVENT Kids ages 6-12 are invited to join a free community fishing event at the Deer Valley ponds on Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to noon. PRESCHOOL OPEN GYM AT BLACK DIAMOND Black Diamond Gymnastics and Sports Center has opened its doors to children ages 1-5 and their parents to beat the summer heat during its Gross Motor development. These open workouts are on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon, and Saturdays from noon to 1 p.m. Parents must attend.
