COURTESY OF THE PARK CITY MUSEUM The annual Historic Home Tour allows tourists to get an inside view of houses such as the one at 835 Norfolk Ave., which was built more than 100 years ago. Continued From C-1 Museum presents home tour in Old Town embodies Park City’s history,” Morrison said. “They were built during the mining era and all hold some really fascinating stories about the residents who have lived there. Some of the insides are very modern. Some of them have the original finishes.” This year, the tour includes a home that hasn’t been fully restored. “The contactor will be on site and people will be able to ask questions about what it takes to restore a historic home,” Morrison said. The other homes will feature either the homeowners or Park City volunteers who will be on site to answer any questions. “We have 50 to 60 volunteers that help us with this tour and we are so grateful to them,” Morrison said. The museum assigns homes to the volunteers. “We like to have at least two people per home, depending on the size of the home,” Morrison said. “We provide them with a lot of historic information about the homes and ask the homeowners if they have any stories they want the volunteers to share.” The museum holds training sessions, but sometimes the volunteers will do their own additional research to find other stories about the homes.. “Their dedication amazes me,” Morrison said. “Of course, we don’t make them work the whole tour. They can take a break and go on the tour themselves.” The museum also hosts a volunteer and homeowner appreciation party at Fletchers. “We are grateful for Fletchers for their support of the tour,” Morrison said. Morrison and the museum board select the homes by asking the homeowners. “Getting homes ready for his tour takes a lot of work, but homeowners who agree to be on the tour take tremendous pride in it,” she said. “I’ve had homeowners already telling me that they’ve been out landscaping, touching up the paint and cleaning their homes for the tour. It kind of gives them a deadline to get those chores done.” Tickets for the home tour are $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Tickets are available at www.parkcityhistory.org. “We are also selling them at the Park City Museum,” Morrison said. “We will also sell them the day of the tour at our headquarter kiosk at the Town Lift Plaza.” People can buy a museum membership at any time and get a discount for the tour. “We love our members,” Morrison said. “They are the heart and soul of our organization. They add stability to everything we do. And they get invitations to all of our upcoming events.” The Historic Home Tour is one of Morrison’s favorite events. “It’s perfect for Park City,” she said. “People can get outside, get some exercise and see inside homes that we don’t generally get to see.” Park City Historical Society and the Park City Museum will present its annual Historic Home Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.
