Wed/Thurs/Fri, August 17-19, 2016 POLICE BLOTTER Officers respond to drunkenness cases in Park City The Park City Police Department last week responded to a series of cases involving people who were suspected to be intoxicated, primarily, it seemed, a result of the large crowds in the city. On Sunday, Aug. 14, the police received two reports in a span of a few minutes. The first case was logged at 8:44 p.m. on Main Street while the other, also on Main Street, was reported at 8:50 p.m. On Saturday, Aug. 13, a case was logged on Crestline Drive at 8:52 p.m. The Police Department also on Saturday logged two suspected intoxication cases within a short time of each other in Old Town. One was reported at 1:43 a.m. on Main Street while the other was reported at 1:26 a.m. on Heber Avenue. Public police logs did not provide details. The Police Department on Saturday, meanwhile, was summoned to a business at or close to the intersection of Main Street and Heber Avenue at 12:12 p.m. as the business had an employee who was suspected to be intoxicated leave the premises. The police were called to keep the peace as the person was told to leave. Other incidents reported to the Police Department last week included: On Sunday, Aug. 14, a man was reportedly seen in shrubs off Holiday Ranch Loop Road at 5:10 p.m. The Police Department classified the case as a welfare check, but public police logs did not offer details. Several horses were seen loose along Ability Way, which is close to Quinn’s Junction, at 1:26 p.m. The horses were reported to be headed in the direction of either S.R. 248 or U.S. 40. A water leak was seen in a yard somewhere along American Saddler Drive at 11:53 a.m. The police were told a plumber responded and indicated the problem was a municipal issue. The police were called to Lakeview Drive at 10:25 a.m., when someone reported a chemical-like smell emanating from a residence. Public police logs did not provide details, but the Police Department indicated the circumstances were suspicious. On Saturday, Aug. 13, four or five men were spotted on a balcony along Deer Valley Drive at 7:39 p.m. They were reportedly throwing golf balls at a construction site. The police classified the case as suspected criminal mischief. A violation of Park City’s rules against engine idling was reported on Swede Alley at 3:11 p.m. Two vehicles were reported to be parked in a residential-parking zone off Deer Valley Drive at 10:27 a.m. Other parking issues were reported in the vicinity at 10:13 a.m. and 10:17 a.m. On Friday, Aug. 12 at 11:57 p.m., the police responded to a report classified as disorderly conduct somewhere along Main Street. Public police logs did not provide details. At 10:14 p.m., a police officer came across two 9-year-olds looking for their parents along Main Street. The mothers were found quickly, the police said. Someone on Little Kate Road on Aug. 12 approached the police with questions about “exporting a rifle,” according to department logs. The logs did not provide details. On Thursday, Aug. 11 at 10:22 p.m., a vehicle was seen parked with the lights on along Golden Way. The police indicated the circumstances were suspicious. The police at 6:12 p.m. received a report that someone refused to get off a lift that had been closed due to lightning in the area. The report was logged on Lowell Avenue. The police were summoned to keep the peace. A wedding ring was reported to have been lost on Deer Valley Drive at 3:15 p.m. Rocks and dirt spilled out of a dump truck as it navigated around a corner on Payday Drive at 1:24 p.m. The rocks and dirt were left all over the road, the police were told. The Police Department said the rocks and dirt created a traffic hazard. On Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 11:45 p.m., the police received a complaint that someone was using a grinder or a sanding machine along Woodside Avenue. The police logs classified the report as disturbing the peace. People were reportedly seen sleeping in a car somewhere along Park Avenue at 11:36 p.m. The police said the circumstances were suspicious. A wallet was found in the back seat of a cab and the police were contacted at 8:50 p.m. The report was on Main Street. The police were called to Woodside Avenue at 3:52 p.m., when someone reported a person entered a residence through a bedroom window and said they were part of a cleaning service. The Police Department said the circumstances were suspicious. On Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 9:44 a.m., the police received a complaint that exit signs were destroyed in a garage on Three Kings Drive. The police classified the case as criminal mischief. On Monday, Aug. 8, the Police Department received two complaints of fireworks. The first was logged at 6:48 p.m. in the vicinity of the Iron Horse district while the other, reported at 10:19 p.m., was on Comstock Drive. A car was reported to have been vandalized with eggs on Monitor Drive. The police received the report at 4:42 p.m. and said the vandalism occurred sometime after 2 p.m. At 3:56 p.m., the police received a complaint that some sort of credit was opened under someone else’s name. The report was logged on the 1800 block of Kearns Boulevard. The police classified the case as suspected identity theft.
