Utah native Coleman takes second place ADAM SPENCER The Park Record By the final round of Friday night’s Psicobloc Masters compe- tition at the Utah Olympic Park, Nathaniel Coleman, a Salt Lake City native, was exhausted. To reach the finals, he’d already had to climb the 50-foot wall above the Spence Eccles Olympic Freestyle Pool three times in head-to-head races, where the first to the top advances to the next round. As he prepared for the finals against German climber Jan Hojer, Coleman, 19, stood under a heat lamp flexing his fingers to try to coax one last climb out of them. “I’m trying to keep the joints moving,” he said. “A lot of times up on that wall, you’ll lose some feeling in your fingers, so I’m trying to get the blood flowing again and keep them warm.” The final showdown between Please see Psicobloc, B-6 Jumper earns top-10 finish Kevin Bickner takes eighth in Grand Prix contest VISIT 15SAINTMORITZ.COM NANCY TALLMAN 435.901.0659 nancy.tallman@sothebysrealty.com Each Office Is Independently Owned And Operated USSA News Bureau Kevin Bickner (Wauconda, Illinois) snagged a career-best finish at the FIS Grand Prix in Einsiedeln, Switzerland, taking eighth place. Bickner jumped 111.5 and 114.5 meters on the large hill against a strong field that included 14 nations. Maciej Kot of Poland won the Grand Prix, followed by teammate Kamil Stoch in second and Michael Hayboeck of Austria in third. It just gives me more confidence knowing it wasn’t my best performance.” Bickner’s finish was the first top-10 result by an American in 4’ a Grand Prix or World Cup event since 2002, when Clint Jones (Steamboat Springs, Colorado) took second in the Innsbruck, Austria, Grand Prix.
