Utah 1'2 Through negotiations with Rulon Nichols, county commissioner, the k grace period was air lowed Pleasant Grove to give city officials time - to prepare another site According to Mayor Roberts, in investigating other sites the city will have io ; compel a controlled usage of the new dump grounds when the area is obtained. Says. Mayor Roberts; "At the next'eity council meeting on Monday, night I will recommend that a new ordinance be set up to enforce the use of city garbage disposal system by all citizens. Recommendations will be to the effect that those who do not take advantage of the system with a cost of $1 per month, .will have to obtain a permit to ansport -- their personal garbage in the city, aipd a fee also will be charged to use the garbage yard. The proposed new location is a five or six mile drive from the city, and, individuals who haul their own garbage will not save, over the city system J. cost." Mayor Roberts went on to say that those citizens who keep garbage in the back yard without proper regular disposal are breaking sanitary laws of the city 'already in force to alleviate unsanitary conditions in the city. "An ordinance is also in, effect prohibiting the dumping of garbage in irrigation ditches, and individuals doing so are advised to discontinue this practice for in the future they will be apprehended and fined," said Mayor Roberts. "We must realize Pleasant Grove is fast becoming a large city, and city officials wish to encourage citizens to keep sanitary conditions thus encouraging new residents to" locate in this locale. We all have room for improvement and the city is setting the example by making plans to move city water sheds out of commercial areas and into industrial areas so as not to detract on future improvements being made."
