Show Recruits 13 New Men flWpniEBF Biff i LEHI Lehi's National Guard company has wound up a highly successful recruiting drive which saw the enlistment of 13 new men, according to First Lt. Earl Craig Dorton, commanding of ficer. Goal of the drive was to bring the company's complement of en listed men up to 100, and this figure was equaled with the new k Hi enlistments. Adams made a trip to Salt Lake City this week in order to take four workers of the coming cancer drive to a special meeting on cancer research at the Hotel Utah. He states that a great deal of enlightment was afforded them concerning research that is now being done on cancer, abroad and especially in Utah. Later in the afternoon the group visited at the Cancer Research Center at the University of Utah to gain first hand information. (Andy) Anderson was elected president of the Rotary Club Friday afternoon at regular meeting. He and other new officers will take office July 1. Sam Burnside was elected vice president and A. K. Roman Andrus, chairman of the Brigham Young University Art Department has been granted a leave of absence for the summer and autumn quarters, 1956, to com plete his studies for the doctor of education degree at University of Colordado. He has completed his course work and will study for his second comprehensive examinations and do research for his dissertation in art and education. He holds the rank of associate professor of art and education at BYU. Professor Andrus will continue with his administrative and teaching duties until he leaves at the end of the spring quarter. On Sept. L chairmanship of the department will be taken over by Conan Maihews, now academic dean at Boise Junior College, and Professor Andrus will resume regu lar teaching duties upon his return for the winter quarter, 1957. Professor Andrus was appointed chairman of the department in March, 1955, and before was acting chairman from September, 1953. He obtained the bachelor of science degree in 1942 and the master of science degree in 1943, both at Brigham Young University, and joined the BYU staff that same secretary.
