William J. Bird, national, affairs advisor, Chamber of Commerce of the United States, will be the commentator who will dis cuss a growing philosophy that money coming from Washington represents "free" handouts to citizens. The series is being presented in the interest of better government through better citizenship, and is a feature of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. The national chamber is a federation of local chambers of commerce, numbering more than 3,000 organizations. The programs, it is hoped by local chamber officials, will stimulate the thinking and consideration of a large number of local citizens who depend upon free enterprise and the American way of life for existence. This is one of several projects of the local chamber of commerce to encourage -- individual citizens to obtain more information on both sides of government issues, and to intelligently declare their opinions to their congressmen. w i - and Mrs. Leonal King left for California jvhere they Triday : will vacation for the" next two 'weeks in, Fresno and San will stop for three at Hoover dam and i'days ehroute ' Mr. .Las Vegas. Statistics Aloha Rindlisbach, Weather Working Against Census 1 3 SALT LAKE CITY, April 22 Area director Ivan Monroe complained today that the weather is not cooperative with the 1950 census takers. Monroe said that deep snow in the mountains and mud in the valleys is making it impossible for enumerators to contact many rural residents of Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. In cities, the weather has been so good that many householders are out on trips so aren't home when the census takers come calling. (U.R) "tail-ender- - i i 20, Emmett, Ida. During this long period, Provo has grown from a small country town to a great industrial center and the chamber of commerce has played a vital part in all of the projects that have been a part of our phenomenal growth and development. "It is my conviction that every business and every professional service in our city is benefitted in some important way from work done by the chamber and that they should therefore, be active members of the chamber of commerce and support it with their money and a reasonable amount of their time.
