(The meal is commonly referred to as "Mac," especially by younger children, tending to diminish the importance of the "cheese" in the dish. This has no known effect , on the meal's nutritional value.) And that's the situa tion 700 years after the last hu man inhabitants fled to deep space in search of a literally greener tomorrow. So does the film have a statement to make about humanity's tendency to neglect the well being of our Mother Earth? Yes and no, according to director Andrew Stanton, who visited with media members in Salt Lake City earlier this month but mostly no. The Stanton, who also wrote the movie, said that he gave ground "kicking and screaming" at every point where it was necessary to flesh out the story's bleak future setting. The message is there. "I'm all for the planet being a better place," Stanton said. "I grew up in the 70s and I was told not to litter every 10 minutes on TV." .'. What the filmmakers are hoping that you take away from "WALL-E,- " however, is a deep attachment to WALL-- himself , the movie's boxy, tanklike robot protagonist. The Utah Arts Festival is so serious that they're taking an entire four-daweekend to celebrate painting, sculpture, music, dance, food, film, theater, literature you name it, and somebody at the UAF is ready to exhibit it, entertain with it, or educate about it.
