GE0RG 0470 ' 9557 - Forecasts and graphics provided by AccuWeather, Inc. 2008 Weather history 5:59 pm MDT today, Utah will officially be in its astronomical summer. The sun's irect rays will reach as far north as they get in the northern hemisphere. The position of the sun will be directly overhead at the Tropic of Cancer, located at 23.5 degrees north latitude. The sun's direct rays will then begin their slow march southward again, arriving overhead at the equator during the third week of September. The U.S. Naval Observatory noted this week that this is the first time since 1896 that the summer solstice occurred on June 20. Prior to this year, it happened on either June 21 or 22. To weathermen and climatologists, summer actually began on June and will continue through August 31. The warm temperatures actually arrived later than usual this year in Utah. The hottest time of year locally is the month of July so don't worry about things cooling off again anytime soon as highs will be in the 90s. 1 1 pc -- t s 'VSUMMIT. J. c 8561 Green .',k.
