Show DAILY HERALD Wednesday, May 21, 2008 Obituaries Lloyd Herbert Gatherum Lloyd Herbert Gatherum passed away May, 18, 2008 in Provo, Utah from s of Alzheimer's. He was born Jury 5, 1924 in Provo, Utah to Robert and Sarah Hair Gatherum. After graduating from Provo High School, he joined the US Navy, and served during WWII as a mechanic on the YF447, in the Tyrrhenian Sea. He received an Honorable Discharge, and then returned to Provo. He married his sweetheart, Dorothy Jeane Burnes on December 27, 1946, in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 1, 1951. Together they had three children: Terri (LeRoy) Madsen of Orem; Lloyd Richard (Nadine) Gatherum of Mesquite, NV; and Sue Gatherum of Tooele. 7 111 Mil! Barbara (Joyce) Brown Allman Joyce Allman passed away peacefully at American Fork Hos pital on Saturday of complications from cancer. She is Lloyd loved his family and enjoyed the many vacations and camping trips that they took together, and visiting with extended family and relatives. Lloyd loved working with wood and the smell of sawdust. He built two homes and made many pieces of furniture for family and friends, and also helped to build a cabin. Lloyd was always a shy person, but he had many friends, and he would always help anyone at any time. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeane. by all of his sisters and brothers: Isabelle Whiting, William, Robert, Thelma Timpson, Glenda Greenwood, Vonda Turner, and Aft on Casidy; and by two grandchildren, Heidi Jeane and Wendy. Floyd was born on July 22, 1914 to Gardner Lacy & Jennie E. Case Goodrich in Bluebell, Utah in a log A wmM iii home on the family farm. She married Bertrand Alonzo and Laura Davis Schow. She died May 17, 2008 at her home in Provo. 4 r Potter Childs i Margaret grew up in Lehi with her brother Elden and her sisters Ila and Erma. She attended Lehi High School and was awarded a scholarship to Brigham Young University, where she studied home economics. She married Glenn Sowards Potter of Bancroft, Idaho in the Salt Lake Temple on December 21, 1931. He died of pneumonia in 1936. Margaret started teaching two weeks later and moved from elementary school in Pleasant Grove to Lehi High School where she taught clothing and art, then to Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah where she taught clothing and was also Dean of Girls during the World War II years. She started teaching in the clothing and textiles department at BYU in 1946 and continued teaching there until her retirement in 1977. She was a graduate of BYU, earned a masters degree from Oregon State University and did doctoral work at the University of Minnesota. Among her membership in many academic and professional organizations, she was a member of Omicron Nu, a home economics scholarship organization, and Phi Kappa Phi; she was also instrumental in bringing a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi to BYU. She was twice the chairman of the clothing and textiles department. She had a variety of churcti callings throughout her lifetime and served fuithfully in all of them. She was active in BYU Women, Childs in 1959, he died in 1999. Margaret and Lon served a mission as directors of the visitors center at the Hyde Park Chapel in London, England, and later served as temple workers in the Provo LDS Temple. They were honored at the 1999 BYU Homecoming with the Alumni Association's Service to Family Award. Margaret is survived by children Wester S. (Polly) Potter, Ralph P. (Paulette) Childs, Kaye (Todd) Woolley and Ross P. No matter how far she traveled from home, she was unfailing in the responsibility she felt to bring honor to all those who taught her by precept and example as she grew up in Panguitch. Halladay and they raised their family in Provo. Janet and Dave divorced. She later married Thomas Garner of Ogden. During her career, she was a hard worker in many fields. She worked as a seamstress and retired as a clerk for the Utah State Government. Janet loved genealogy, traveling, going to Disneyland, sports, bowling, going to movies, building puzzles, playing board games, and being with her family. Everyone loved her roast beef, GJP, and homemade rolls. She loved her dogs, they were her babies.
