Allred of Fountain Green, Sanpete County, Utah celebrated his 80th Birthday, April 22, 2008. A Birthday Party was given to him by his children at the Fountain Green Ward Activity Center on April 19, 2008. Calvin married his sweetheart, Rita November 23, 1953 in the Manti Temple, after he returned from service in the U.S. Armed Forces. They were blessed with five children: Rowena Adams; David (Susan) Allred, divorced; Keith (Lisa, deceased, later sealed to Kate) Allred; Colleen (Lonny) Brown; Karen (Gene) Peckham. They have been blessed with 23 grandchildren and 9 As a youth, Calvin attended Fountain Green Elementary and Jr. High Schools, in Fountain Green. He graduated from Moroni High School in 1946, Moroni, Utah. In the fall of 1946 he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah for two years. Calvin was called to go on a mission to Sweden in 1948 which he gladly accepted. He learned Swedish in Sweden and served in various areas for 2 12 years. After his mission he traveled throughout Europe before returning home in the spring of 1951. He wasn't at home long until the U.S. Army called him into service the summer of 1951, and he again left home. After his basic training he was shipped to Okinawa in the South Pacific for 14 months. Calvin spent the better part of his life in the sheep industry and farming. He has been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many ward and stake positions. He was called as a young Bishop of his ward for 7 12 years, 2 year mission with his wife at the Manti Temple Visitors Center, and later spent 8 years with his wife as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple. He and his wife served a one year mission in the Connecticut, Hartford Mis- sion also. We all greatly love him and appreciate his example and deep love for us.
