Venice Hansen Farr - March March 28, 1917 Our beautiful mother, Venice Hansen Farr, finished her song one week shy of her 9 1st birthday, March 21st, 2008. The music began in Daniels (Heber), Utah, on March 28th, 1917, when Venice became the fifth daughter and sixth child born to Hans Peter Christian and Rose Thacker Hansen. The family moved to Park City when Venice was a year old, and then a year later to Provo, where she lived for the rest of her life. She attended Page Elementary School, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem. The melody began to take shape when Venice pretended to play the piano on a box in the back yard as she listened to tunes on the radio. When the family purchased a piano a few years later, she was miraculously able to play anything she heard. As she grew into her teenage years, she became known for her fabulous playing and was the center of attraction at parties and dances. Her life was filled with an abundance of love from her family, good times with her friends and sisters, hard farm work which included plenty of raspberry pickpiano ing, and her playing. The music took on a beautiful harmony when she met a local singer, Ozzie Farr, who needed ah accompanist, and was told of a young girl in Provo who could play anything "by ear". The two formed a duet on October 1st, 1938, that continued for the rest of their lives. The music expanded into a symphony as children were added to the duet. The pair raised two sons and two daughters who in turn gave them many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The fabric of her song was enriched by her activity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having held positions in the Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. Her understanding of the gospel was evident in the way she treated 36 QPti maw American Fork, UT 84003 'h4 other people, and in the principles of honesty, integrity and love that she taught her children. Those who remain to carry on the music are her sons, Robert S. Farr (Linda), Lewiston, Idaho; Dennis R. Farr (Terri), Three Forks, Montana; her daughter Sherrie Farr Dunford (Craig), of Mapleton; eighteen grandchildren, and 46 She was preceded in death by her husband, Oswald W. Farr, daughter Julie Farr Thomas, her parents, Hans and Rose Hansen; five sisters, Chloe Hansen Pearl Hansen Anderberg, Opal Hansen Brereton, Florence Hansen, and brother Ray Thomas Hansen.
