Show DAILY D4 Investigation into officers in Male put on hold ASSOCIATED THE Brent Owen Hardy, age 40, of Springville, passed away Friday, March ST. GEORGE An investigation into the conduct of police officers in a polygaa mic enclave on the border will not result in a recommendation to strip the department of its badges at least not yet. Instead, Utah's Peace Officer Standards and Training council voted Monday to table its three month investigad tion into the Colorado City, Ariz., Town Marshal's office, which also patrols Hildale, Utah. The twin communities are home to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints whose 10,000 members practice polygamy and revere their leader, Warren Jeffs, as a prophet. Utah's POST council opted to put its investigation on hold pending action by academy officials in Arizona who Utah-Arizon- cross-deputize- are investigating three officers. Arizona is not expected to resolve its investigation until summer. Utah's investigation began in December after allegations surfaced that officers had ignored court orders, refused to cooperate in depositions and were essentially more loyal to the church than their oath of office. An attorney representing the police officers said there is no "credible evidence" to merit taking away their badges. "The officers of Hildale acknowledge that they have room to improve nd that they can benefit from more training," Peter Stirba said in a letter to the Utah POST r 16, 2007.
