The first half of play ended with the game fted up at one apiece. Lindsay Voorheis geared for American Fork on an assist from Adrienne Schneider to get on the scoreboard first. Provo's goal came unassisted from forward Cami BrimhalL who stole the baB and dribbled in for the shot and score. " The loss to Payson served as a wake-u- p call for the Bulldogs. "We had the hardest practice of the year yesterday," said Provo coach Cesar Cardoso. "I told the girls that it doesnt matter if we have a game tomorrow, we need to be more aggressive and prepare to win by continuing intense conditioning. "We have a tough region. It is very tight. We have been losing games in the second half and that has to stop." Cardoso was pleased with how his team hustled this time. "I am impressed at how hard they worked considering yesterday's practice," he said. "Effort is key; whether we win or lose, the most important thing is to come off the field knowing we have giving 100 percent." Cardoso conceded that his team didn't play a flawless game, technically speaking. '"It was not a pretty game, and our passing struggled, but we played with our hearts," he said. Davis credited her team's aggressiveness to the killer practice the day before. "We got worked pretty hard and did conditioning for the full two hours, but everyone was so positive when practice was over. I think it brought our heads back into the game and brought us together as a team," Davis said. "We played the best we could, with a lot of heart, and our effort made up for the mistakes we made." . Rob Vogels-ber- g American Fork said his team played hard, but lacked aggressiveness. "We didn't move the ball quickly enough, something you have to do against aggressive teams," Vogelsberg said. "We also made a key mistake on Jana Davis' score, and a player like Jana will make you pay when that happens." Provo outshot A.F. 18-- 1 1. I Springville 4, Spanish Fork 1 : At Springville, four different Red Devils scored, helping Springville remain undefeated in Region 6 play. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure Jennifer Bueno, the Oakland A's fan who got smashed in the face by a chair compliments of Texas Rangers reliever Frank Frandsco, has a good case. Francisco could have used a few tips on an expert on the matter. You see, I get heckled every week by fans and players who are angry with me for picking against them. I guess everyone would like me to pick a tie in every game. Pleasant Grove is mad at me because I never pick the Vikes. Provo is fuming because the Bulldogs thought I should have known they would beat Pleasant Grove. Orem thinks I've turned on the Tigers, and Spanish Fork wants to know how I could have picked the Dons to lose to Mountain View. Doesn't anyone love me? At least Juab does. When I hear the catcalls, at least I have my record to fall back on. I haven't missed an American Fork game, a Timpview game, a Springville game, a Payson game, a Lehi game and on and on.
