Preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday September 9, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the American Fork 6th LDS Ward (300 North 100 East). She was born October 9, 1923, in Goshen, Utah, to John T. and Sadie Lewis Riley. She married LaVar H. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, LaVar H. Davies; two sons, and two daughters: Michael (Karen) Davies, American Fork; Lucille (Don) Oisen, Houston, TX; Roger (Sydne) Davies, St. George; and Chris (Michael) Williams, Pleasant on, CA; as well as 19 grandchildren and 20 She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Hobble Creek Stake Center, 450 South Canyon Drive, Springville. A viewing will be held from 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at Wheeler Mortuary. 211 East 200 South, Springville. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. - Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Her early years were spent in Goshen, after which her family moved to Spanish Fork, Utah, where she received her education, graduating from Spanish Fork High SchooL She later moved with her parents to Ogden, Utah, where she worked as a secretary at the Ogden Army Supply Depot. She met her husband at a church social, and later supported him as he served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, they lived in Provo, Orem, and finally settled down in Springville, where they resided for over fifty years. She Shirley Alice Jensen Maughan, 72, of Pleasant Grove, passed away Saturday. September 4, 2004,of Carl Jay Mayne, 77, of American Fork, died September 4, 2004, peacefully, at home in his steep, after a long battle with cancer. Born November 12, 1926, in American Fork, Utah, the son of George LeRoy and Josephine Beck Mayne. He married Joyce Bertroch, July Uoodty, September f, 2004 to LeRoy Lyman and Aboe OteDaLee Jensen. She married Walter L Maughan on December 2L 1953, in the Logan LDS Temple. Shirley grew up in Cache Valley and graduated from North Cache High School in 1950. She received a B. S. degree in English from Utah State University, and later received an M. S. in Library Science from Brigham Young University. She was an active member of the LDS church and especially enjoyed her calling as Meeting House Librarian. Ella Ruth Turner Bergera, beloved wife, mother, grandmoth; er, teacher, and writer, passed away peace- fully in her home on Tuesday, August 31, 2004. She was seventy-six years old. For the past sixteen years, she had been living with poly cythemia vera, a rare blood disease. Ella Ruth was born on June 29, 1928, in Sunnyside, Utah, to Taylor and Ella Larsen Turner. She taught school in Utah and California. From 1967 to 1988, she taught Children's Literature at Brigham Young University. Following her retirement, she traveled extensively with family members and published five novels (Beware the Nothing Much. He was born on March 22, 1925, in Magna, Utah, to Charles and Leora Sundblom. Upon graduation from Springville High School in 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force, and proudly served his country in the Eu ropean Theatre Operations during World War II. Charles graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts Degree; and, later obtained his Masters Degree from Long Beach State University. He was an educator for 35 years with the San Bernardino Unified School District in California. He was a member of the American Federation of Teachers, where he held several leadership positions.
