The director of the camp is Barbara Barrington Jones, and an entire group of profes-- . sional speakers will be in attendance. The camp is for girls ages and recently graduated seniors, to feel better about themselves. There's also focus on helping them learn to strengthen their outward appearance and social skills. The goal of the camp is to help each camper develop her discover her gifts and talents, increase her ability to give of herself and realize the potential she has to truly ' girl. V, . ' These speakers, along with workshops and classes, will help edify and teach each individual the importance of implementing the values of morality, integrity, honesty, love and hope into their daily 12-1- lives. t .... The Be Your Best Self Girls Camp is affiliated with America's Junior Miss, a nonprofit scholarship program for high school girls. The camp has come about because of a need. A report issued by the American ' Association of University Women stated, "At birth, a child has 100 percent ' esteem. By junior high, 69 percent of boys still have high while only 56 percent of girls do. By high school, 51 percent of boys feel good about themselves, compared to only 24 percent of girls. I feel this series was much, much more than a rehash of previously heard stories and I enjoyed listening to them with his dis? tinctive voice and style. Madsen said he found people are,willing to listen even when they aren't willing to read. He thinks people will listen at their convenience, in the car, while ironing or wherever. He says he's received a larger response to his tapes than to his books. Why is that? Maybe because tapes bring people alive and make the material more understandable. As I listened, I would be so startled by what I listened to that I would say to myself, "I have been so impressed that I cannot again be impressed," and then I would be impressed. I'm not using hyperbole. I am not exaggerating for effect.
