J , I I .: w .wy - "j r 1 .,'.' if. - VNr w MM 4 !! ! j The Steinway contest lists a spe cial ($750 cash award for 1935 only, open to native or natural ized citizens of the United States between the ages of 20 and 35 The award is for a composition for piano alone, or for piano and chamber orchestra of 12 to 15 minutes duration. The contes closes Feb. 15, 1955. Complete rules and requirements are avail able from NFMC Headquarters . The Young Composers Contes is an annual competition sponsor ed by the student division of the NFMC, open to entrants between IS to 25 inclusive. Deadline for 1955 competition is -- larch 25 Classifications include (1) a son ata or comparable work for solo wind or string instrument with piano, or for any combination of 3 to 5 orchestral instruments, duration 8 minutes minimum; (2), work for chorus, either unaccompanied or with accompaniment of piano, organ, or a group of not more than 10 instruments; English text; minimum duration 4 minutes.
