He recommended the seminary work as a factor in developing high manhood and high womanhood. "There never was a time in the history of the world when opportunity for learning and advancement was so great as at the present time." declared Patriarch Hyrum.G. Smith, who was the last speaker of the afternoon session "and yet people are like they wew hundreds and thousands of years'ago," he con tin ued. ."They forget their opportunities and begin to follow after the fashions of the world. Whenever man or woman is dishonest, corrupt, neglects to keep the Sabbath day holy and follow after the practices and fashions of, the world, there is bound to follow sorrow and distress, for history viU repeat itself.
