The Herald will continue to d 3 this after every meeting if the forum adopts the suggestion made last . evening that a roll call be instituted. . Won't you, please, Mr. C. of C. Member, come out at the next "forum? Ilere ano; now The Herald takes the opportunity of informing President Pierpont and Secretary Cunningham that the editorial in Wednesday 9 Herald pointing to deficiencies in Chamber of Commerce functioning was actuated by desire to focus public attention upon this one The lack of attendance, and the seeming lack of concern, at forum thing: meetings. The Herald questioned the officials: Is it YOUR fault? Obviously it w;as the fault of the officials or the members. Whose ? President Pierpont probably has done more than any one man to make r the Provo Chamber of Commerce a great factor in this city's upbuilding. In this e ndeavotihe president lias been aided by Secretary Cunningham. The Herald had no fault to find with either of these officials. But The -- Herald realizes that something is wrong, for the members do not attend. The Herald gladly .will print letters from 'Chamber of Commerce mem- bers giving their reasons for and offering' their suggestions as to how the attendance may be increased. -- You can help Provo in no larger measure than by making these forum meetings real community; meetings. 1 Will. you attend the next forum? It will be held Thursday, Decem- comedies,"tJ be sure. And they are not baseball games. "But at these forum' meetings there have been discussed the most important problems facing this city and its citizens, problems that have to da with every man's job, every businessman's business, with every real 'estate owner's property, with every dollar invested in Provo, with the future ot thi city. There is only one way to push Provo ahead, and that is - to get hehind-an- d lend a shoulder to the wheel. "As President Pierpont said last evening: "There is talk of a steel merger which is to locate blast furnaces on Utah lake. If we wantthem located to Provo's best advantage we cannot sit still and wait for them to ' "come. We must go out and work for them !" One way, and the best way, to focus public opinioVon these efforts of municipal growth, is through the medium of the forum.' And the forum never will amount to much if only 21 members attend; nor even if 50 ' - ,o; attend. - - With over 500 members every forum should see at least 200 present, . - ! , merce, responded matter? L Startup, Mayor Dixon, The most important arm of the Chamber of Commerce is this members' forum. -- It can do wonders for Provo j or it can do nothings Recently it has been doing the latter.; Why? Because not enough members come out to make it a real forum. Not enough hear the messages to! make ' worth while the speaker's time and effort. 1,707 Circulation not, President T. F.
