Show THE MIDVALE (Utah) Page Seven SENTINEL Friday, May 6, 1955 V.'SST JORDAN ROSEMARIE SCHMIDT, Reporter Phone Mid. 0080-R1 The Archibald Gardner Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, will hold its regular meeting May 13 at the Pioneer hall beginning at 2 p.m. Election of officers will take place, and a large crowd is expected to attend. Mr St Mrs Samuel Tuttle visited in Bountiful Saturday and Sunday with their father, Francis Tuttle, who has been in the Veterans hospital with pneumonia. He is now at his home recuperating. The Samuel Tuttle family celebrated the birthday of their daughter, Shirlyn, who was one year old Sunday. Monday she was visited by Mrs Alice Malmstrom, Margie, Mar-genand Rodney, and Mr & Mrs Earl Demitz. The elementary - grades of the West Jordan school are planning field trips during the last part of school. The fourth grade is planning to visit KDYL radio station, the bakery, and the University of Utah. The fifth grade is visiting a radio station, a Japanese garden, and the Deseret News. A reminder goes to all West of the 70's variety show this at the West Jordan Second Friday ward beginning at 8 p.m. Featured on the program will be the Air Force ROTC chorus; also a one-aplay and other numbers. Tickets are being sold, and funds will be used to maintain missionaries in the field. The Relief society visiting teachers of the First and Second wards were among the 300 honored at a luncheon Thursday given by the West Jordan stake Relief society board. Other guests were the Relief society presidencies of each ward. Mr & Mrs A. C. Furse have had as a visitor during the past week, Miss Audrey Leider, Great England, who was sponsored by Mr Furse to immigrate to America. Mr Furse became acquainted with Miss Leider during his mission in England while he served as clerk in the Lowestoft branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is now living with a former resident of that branch and working in the genealogical office in Salt Lake. Mr & Mrs Furse and Miss Leiden did some sight-seein- g Saturday and visited friends in Salt Lake and Brig-haCity. Last week they spent the day on the Temple block and participated in a guided tour. They also conducted a discussion of the church to a small group of visitors. Mr. & Mrs Vera Mills spent the week visiting at the Ed Kidder home. The Mills are enroute to Washington from St. George. Mrs Wayne Bateman and daughguests ter, Debra, were week-enof Mr & Mrs Melvin Braithwaite in Spanish Fork. Among party guests in American Fork were Mrs Ray Bateman and Mrs E. P. Bateman. They honored Mrs Wayne Durrant. Mrs Joyce Harding, Bountiful, spent Thursday visiting her parents, Mr St Mrs E. P. Bateman. Alta Wilson, Salt Lake, was a Sunday guest at the Bateman home. Mr & Mrs George M. Jensen returned home Friday after a week's visit in California. The first four groups of the First ward Primary honored their mothers at a program Wednesday. A group of First warders honored Louis Bigler HI Saturday night at a farewell party. After spending the evening bowling, supper was served at the home of Alvin and Darlene Bytheway. Louis left for the Southern States mission Wednesday. EAST SHARP, Reporter Phone Mid. 586-- Mid. 586-- R MRS. SHARP OBSERVES 87TH BIRTHDAY EVENT Mrs George T. Sharp was recent- ly honored by friends and relatives at a party held at her home in East Midvale on her 87th birthday. She was born Apr. 21, 1868, in South Cottonwood, daughter of William and Margaret McMillan. She was married to George T. Sharp Feb. 12, 1891. He died four years ago. During World War I she established a Red Cross Unit in her home. She is a past captain of the Sharp Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers. A member of the Church Saints, of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y she has been a counselor and teacher in Relief Society. Mrs Sharp has two daughters and a son: Mrs W. H. (Lou) Black-me- r, Temple City, Calif.; Mrs Earl (Grace) Ferguson, Brigham City, and George Lee Sharp, Holladay; five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Mrs Roy Nay lor, Salt Lake, and Mrs Edith Orgill, Murray, recently visited with Mr & Mrs P. A. Swen-son- . The First ward Primary held its annual conference Sunday. Mildred Larsen was the reader and the soloist was Gertrude Tranter. All Primary children participated in music, readings and dramatizations. Joene Tranter was the accompanist and the conference was under direction of Evelyn Terry, Margaret Burgon, and Thelma Hastings. Mr & Mrs Denver Harmon, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mr & Mrs Neal Morris,' Holladay, were dinner guests Sunday at the Don Swenson home. Mr St Mrs Frank Craven, Bountiful, Mr & Mrs Henry Hill. Mr St Mrs Alfred Craven, Mr ic Mrs Peter McGee. and Mr St Mrs Wilford Craven, all of Salt Lake, met at the home of Mr St Mrs Paul Dahl Saturday evening, honoring Mrs Dahl on her birthday. Mr Walker and Jack Halverson, a junior from Salt Lake, were selected for the honor by their fellow students and by members of the engineering faculty. The selections were made on the basis of scholarship, campus activities, and popularity. They will be presented "with engraved certificates and a year's membership to the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Mr St Mrs Ellis Richardson and family and Mrs Sylvester Walker were dinner guests Sunday of Mr & Mrs Lionel Richardson at their home in Logan. Madsen, Salt Lake, former Union residents, announced the arrival of a daughter Apr. 20. Mr St Mrs Klin Darton, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mr & Mrs Harold J. Madsen are the grandparents. Mr St Mrs Reuben Forbush returned to their home Sunday after enjoying a three weeks' vacation in California. They made the trip by plane and visited relatives and ftiends and places of interest in Inglewood, Pamona, Los Angeles, and Hollywood.
