His choice as recipient of the award was a secret from practically no one but Ravell, and as a loyal community enthusiast he and his wife prepared to accept their invitation to attend the award banquet. So when his church set a ward dinner for the same night, Ravell decided there were lots of ward dinners to attend, and planned to skip this one. But the church people had arranged to honor the retiring bishopric that evening including Ravell as a surprise move, and detailed Mrs Beckstcad to see that he was present. Just how she accomplished her mission is not quite clear, a but never underestimate woman she got her spouse to both surprises, ate both dinneri along with him, and basked in reflected glory as her husband won the plaudits of both church and civic organizations in one evening. a.
