We don't know whether it wis inspired by the new telephone book or not, but this week Casey Nelson brought us a telephone directory dated October, 1909, issued by the Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone Co. The directory boasted of long distanct connections to all points in Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. The book, only a fraction of the size of the 1958 directory, included, in addition to Salt Lake City, the complete listing of the exchanges at Bingham Canyon, Bountiful, Coalville, Eureka, Farmington, Garfield, Heber City, Huntsville, Kaysville, Mammoth, Mercur, Midvale, Morn gan, Murray, North Ogden, .Park city, Plain City, Robinson, and Tooele. A directory with those cities in now would be a foot thick! Each Jordan touchdown came in tho closing seconds of the half, almost leading to cases of heart failure in the stands as the seconds ticked away. Between halves, the Charlon-ian- s gave a splendid exhibition of formation marching and singing. Their timing was good, too. Just as the round moon edged over the Charlonians Mt. Utah d(d a tremendous job in holding the Y's tremendous power at bay. Though most of the game was it played with the score at seemed inevitable that the BYU power should break loose, and it did for just one play. And then the game was over, the goalposts came down quicker than any we've ever seen. A set of goalposts must make a lot 7-- of souvenirs. He pointed out that the pre sent integration problem is not a matter of slavery but oi tne growth of a way of life in the south with the whites as a super ior and the Negroes an inferior race. This code was based on a theory of "separate but equal" facilities for the two races, which at one time was approved as con stitutional by the Supreme Court, but for several decades the court has been "chipping away" at the ruling until the court has now held that two facilities which are separate cannot be equal. Dean Dykstra brought his discussion right up to date, includ ing a discussion of the Supreme Court's decision of that day, and said that present attempts to continue the old way of life with separate schools are aimed at harrassment and delay rather than any hope of final victory.
