RIVER SHOWN Interesting and breath-takinpictures of the recent boat trip down the Colorado river and it tributaries were shown by Lyle Brady, a participant, as a feature of Sandy Second ward M.I.A. program Tuesday of last week, with M.I.A. presidents, Mr & Mrs Holloway, in charge. Others who participated in the daring trip and who contributed to the program were Peter Ferris, Roald Amundsen, DeMar Hollo-wa- y and Rulon Mackey. The pictures explained the delay in the venturesome trip when it was feared that all had lost their lives. Pictures of the boat trips of 1950 and 1951 were also shown by Mr. Sharp. g Sandy volunteer firemen responded to the blaze Sunday afternoon when some used lumber at the rear of the residence of Mr & Mrs Roy Konold, 527 E. 7th South, caught fire cause unknown. The fire was the first within the Sandy city limits iti the past four months. Residents are urged to use every precaution in fire prevention, as all citizens are striving for a "no loss" fire year in the community, said John Bolliger, Sandy city fire chief. A wedding dinner for members of the immediate families followed. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon trip to Yellowstone Park, and are now making their home in southern California. Lieut Boyd Thomson, USN, who has been on active duty throughout the Korean conflict and wife, the former Virgina Lee Jensen of Murray, and their two children, are visiting with his parents, Mr & Mrs N K Thomson in Sandy, and with her parents, Mr St Mrs James Leo Jensen in Murray.. Lieut Thomson was stationed on the carrier "Valley Forge," and for the past year was on the destroyer "Lyman K Swenson," in Korean waters. He is leaving this week for Chicago to attend Norhwestern University for a three weeks counseling course before taking up his duties as naval ROTC instructor at Iowa State College. He is a graduate of the University of Utah and has served in the navy since 1943. Lieut and Mrs. Thomson have been extensively entertained during their stay here. Lieut-CoHilton Densley, of the US artillery, and wife the former Miss Margaret Jensen and three children, who have been making their home at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., arrived last week and are spending a month visiting with her parents, Mr St Mrs A C Jensen. The Densleys will make their next home in San Francisco, where he has been assigned with Headquarters of the Sixth Army, at the Presidio, for the next three years. Corp. Reed C Crapo of the U S Marines, stationed at San Diego, Calif., arrived Sunday and is visiting with his parents, Mr & Mrs J Clement Crapo. CpL Crapo was recently graduated from the radio ct l. THE school at Marine Corps Communications, San Diego. He entered the service in September 1951. He is a graduate of Jordan high and was a student at the University of Utah.
