A meeting was called in the old Midvale city hall and representa- tives from various organizations attended. Among those present were Mrs. Fred Hyke. Mrs. Marie Phelps, Dr. H. E. Nelson, the late Mrs. John Aylett, B. A. Rasmussen and Harry Grass. The group perfected plans for a future meeting, to be held April 20. 1936, in the Midvale school auditorium. They appointed Harry Grass as chairman of the meeting, and under direction of Mrs. Ched- wiggen a club was organized and officers elected. Bern Rasmussen was chosen as charter president of the club. Following much discussion among officers and members it was decided to sponsor a contest to find a name for their new club. Among many entries the name "Mid-Flor- a Garden Club" submitted by Henry Gosman was chosen by the judges. Many changes have taken place in Midvale since the garden club was organized. The growth of the town, the cleanliness of the city, its paved streets, the upkeep and beautification of the homes and yards, which causes comments of' all who visit here, can be traced to some extent, to the interest and influence of the garden club members.
