Larry T Bodell, 21, stationed at Salt Lake Air Base, son of Mr & Mrs R T Bodell of East Mid-valis in the Hill Air Base hospital, where he was taken Sunday evening following a car accident at Orem. Sgt. Bodell was a passenger with two Air Force companions, Sgt. Norman T Paxton, 22, driver of the car, and Cpl. Joseph Hewlett, 18, both of Salt Lake City. The trio was returning home and the driv- er apparently dozed at the wheel. The car hit a cement culvert in the business district of Orem and went out of control. The boys were thrown free of the car, which was demolished.. E. MATTHEWS Mid vali Commercial Sen. Wallace F Bennett (R. Ut.) has asked the Senate Post Office and Civil Seivice Committee to hold up the nomination of Clyde Weeks for the postmastership at Orem, until a group of Democratic committeemen can state their case to the senator. According to reports received by the senator, Weeks was recently recommended to the president for the job by Democratic Congresswoman Reva Beck Bosone, in whose district the Orem postoffice is located. The nomination must go to the senate for approval. On May 19, 27 democratic party workers and leaders wrote the Senate of the United States and Sen. Bennett stating that Mrs. Bo sone had announced that she would abide by the decision of the democratic party in Orem, in regard to the appointment, but that the chairman of the local committee has declined to call a meeting for the selection to be made. Bennett has also received other that indicating correspondence there is much dispute in Orem over the postmaster appointment. Bennett wrote the protesting Democrats that even though he was a Republican he considered it his responsibility to serve all of the people of Utah and he would, therefore, ask that the appointment be temporarily held up until he had further information. He stated that "of course, the purpose of the competitive Civil Service examination was to pick the man best qualified for the job and I hope your committee will keep this in mind in your deliberations so that a postmaster can be selected who can receive complete approval and support of all the citizens of the community, regardless of their party affiliation."
