Johnson. He was not our choice as President of this land. But, for that mallei, neither was his Republican opponent, what's his name. We dislike the politics IBJ has employed in such legislation as Medicare ramming through Congress is Bill. The former and the Poverty nothing more nor less than an initial step toward Socialized Medicine. The latter is pure bureaucratic We'd hoped LBJ would temper his political promises a trifle once he got into office. But he hasn't and much of the legislation he's insisted be passed has not been in the best interest of Ameiica's future. Perhaps todays cilizeniy can justify living beyond their means, but it's unfair to mortgage the fuluie of their childien. Be that as it may, however, we aie today solidly behind Johnson's stand in Viet Nam and the Dominican Re public. He's been harrassed from all sides by people who tremble at the thought of armed conflict. But he's more than his constituents when it comes to dealing with the Reds and we applaud his pure, unadulterated guts in drawing the line on the Commies. We have too many Americans who still don't think Communism is a menace to our way of life. We have too many others who'd rather be live slaves than to defend the cause of freedom. We have others, too, who are simply tools of inter national Communism. They scream in protest of our country's defense strategy without knowing the screams they utter have been fostered by c Communistic intelligence aware our nation s leaders are influenced by the group that makes the most noise. Where are the voices of those who knew, "deep down in their hearts," as Barry put it, that we must somewhere, someday say "Halt" to the spread of Communistic doctrine and prove we mean business no matter what the cost?
