Hillyard, Land to Marry in June, Miss Davis in March Honored on Birthday Mrs. Grant Mavgtim Mrs. Grant (Maggie) Trudy ..""..:.'" w..:- - We had one of those rare but rewarding experiences the other day an experience that proved rich in many ways. It centered about a chat and talk with an actress who is dedicated to her life's job. Strange thing about it is that her chosen career is not along the acting lines now. This we until we heard her actually tell us found hard to believe about it and how she made a choice that changed her whole life. And she has never regretted it. Arlene Land Miss Miss Beverly Hillyard Skagg'g Memorial Chapel of the First Baptist Church will be the scene of a ceremony, uniting' in marriage Miss Arlene Denice Land and Al Warner Almquist. .,,. Mr. and Mrs. Neil J. Hillyard, Lemay Avenue, Granger, announce the engagement of their daughter, Beverly, to Kenneth E. Lyon Jr. The young people are making plans for their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on June 29. Mr. Lyon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Lyon of Antioch, California. They are former residents of Granger, where Kenneth attended local schools, graduating from Cyprus high school in 1959. The is majoring in law groom-to-b- e and has been attending BYU in Provo. their marriage, Following they will reside in San Francisco, where they will both attend college. He plans to attend San Francisco State College, while his new bride is attending the junior college there. 3079 ' Her name? A very pretty Irish monicker Miss Nora O'Mahony. Maybe you read about her or heard about her. She just finished appearing in a world premiere play at Kingsbury Hall. And we might add, she did an excellent job. Of course, the fact that she played the part of an Irish mother may have made it an easy casting for her. While in Salt Lake she made many guest appearances at Womens Clubs, Garden Clubs, youth groups and most every other kind of group interested in hearing of her experiences. Many more should have heard her for her experiences are most interesting. It was at one of these gatherings that we had the privilege of sitting next to her and chatting before and after her main talk. Her personality radiates the entire time. As claims everyone has unmade over 150 shows doubtedly seen the bit part type) she was commanding a tidy little salary ot $200 a day. Ireland was different but she liked Hollywood. She had a comfortable home and most everything a lady in her forties a feeling could want. Yet, to her there was something lacking that she was accomplishing nothing in her daily routine So she started to analyze this feeling to find a solution. It came in a group of lay missionaries from Los Angeles. After filling out 6 pages of a thousand questions, she estimated, they found her college with an Irish accent, of degree entitled her to teach English course. I , ' ' in movies and TV (she her on TV because she's an actress So she gave up all of her modem day conveniences and luxuries and embarked on a new experience a long trip to Kenya, Africa, and her new home. She admitted that she had a feeling of fear which is only natural when you undertake such a change. But this feeling was overshadowed by '' "'( . J '? and 307 lake she was going to Hollywood to tape a for American Heritage on the life of Lincoln. She'll be appearing with Raymond Massey in one scene and we're anxious to see it. After several more speaking engagements home she'll board a freighter for a 35 day trip back home to the natives in Africa.
