Mrs. Beaman submitted her resignation at the last meeting of the group. Mrs. Scott Thomas, senior vice president, will assume the duties as president. At the auxiliary's next meeting, the members will elect both a senior and a junior vice president. Following me election, the ladies will have a small social to welcome the new officers. Democrats Hold Rally The Democratic party staged a rally at the Granger elementary school auditorium Wednesday evening under the sponsorship of voting district 508. Chairman of the voting district, Brent Erickson, was in charge of the meeting, which included a number of the candidates running on the Democratic ticket. Senatorial candidate, Frank E. Moss, was a principal guest, as was Davis S. King, candidate for House of Representatives. Born in 1929 in Chicago. 111., the son of Albert and Delia Waters Capson, he was raised in Salt Lake City coming here when a year old. Maurice atended Serman elementary. Olympus junior and Granite senior high school. He played football for the Farmer eleven, was active in music groups and was a member of the debate team. In his senior year he sang with the chorus. I'pon graduating from Granite in 1917, Mr. Capson entered the University of Utah and received his BS degree in 1951. He then took a position as a teacher at Bibby Kdwards elementary school. On the Ute campus. Maurice belnged to the I 'hi Kappa Alpha, social fraternity, and served as president of the A'cap-pell- a choir for two years. He gave accordion lessons to earn funds to attend the University. Although he still teaches the instrument it is now primarily a hobby with him. He attended summer sessions at the U. of U. from 19,r.l to 1956 when he was awarded his MS degree. The past two summers he has been doing graduate work in economics at Brig-haYoung University. Music plays an important role in Maurice's life. A member of the Tabernacle Choir, he has sang with the famed group since 1917. Although unable to go with the choir on its present tour, he was with the group when it made a trip of Europe in 19.r. Maurice has served in many capacities fur the Granite District. He is a pant chairman of the Arts and Crafts Festival and conducted the music festival. A member of the national, state and Granite education associations, he has served as vice president of the Granite group.
