University of Utah were accorded positions on the high honor roll for winter quarter, it was announced this week by the Scholastic Standards Committee. The high honor roll includes only students who made a 3.5 (A ) average or better during the quarter and who were enrolled in at least 12 hours of classwork. Kendra Madsen, Cherry Healy, and Sally Eakins, to mention only a few, have demonstrated outstanding freedom of expression in art and creative dancing. The students especially enjoy finger painting while listening to such works as Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from Peer Gynt, Saint-Saen- 's "The Swan," or Heifetz playing "The Flight of the Bumble Bee." Also on tap for the last week of school is a musical play called "The Raggletaggletown Singers." The children have already begun rehearsing and hope to present the play to other classes in the school and possibly to their parents. Bonnyview Third Graders Learn Piano in Unique Class Mrs. Clark Teaches Murray Students Meet With Delegates From Five Western States Two Murray students at the University of Utah were among ten from the school who last week-en- d attended the District III convention of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma at Por-tale- s, N. Mex. Eastern New Mexico university was host to the delegates from five western states. The two organizations are an honorary band Mash, 476 E. 4800 So., were attending. Both are graduates of Murray high school and are active In various campus organizations. ! Thus begins a period of piano instruction in Mrs. Clark's Third Grade at Bonnyview school. Each pupil takes a turn at the piano while the remainder of the children follow along on piano keyboards which they made themselves. The keyboards were first drawn on heavy white butcher paper and then pasted over cardboard for reinforcement. To most of the students, this type of Instruction gives vital experience In note reading, rhy thm, and timing, and could become a basis for the study of other instruments.
