Since 1944 he had been employed by the Standard Oil Co. of California at their North Salt Lake plant. He was on vacation at the time of the mishap. A native of Park; City, he was born Jan. 2, 1902, a son of Frederick and Martha Jacobs. He came to Sugar House as a young boy and lived there most of his life. He married Rhea M. Boyce in Salt Lake City on May 13, 1924, the marriage later being solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons, Raymond Boyce Jacobs, who also has played professional baseball, and Daniel Glen Jacobs, both of Salt Lake City, and Earl Claude Jacobs, with the U. S. Navy in California; four grandchildren, and two brothers, Daniel and Patrick Jacobs, both of Salt Lake City. Burial will be in Holladay cemetery.
