Will Fete Mrs. Larson, 99 Open House Sel For Mrs. Wesl, 87 A resident of Murray since 1901 and an ardent reader of current affairs through the years will be honored on her 87th birthday Sunday. The event will fete Mrs. Mary West. It will be in the form of an open house at the residence of a son, James H. C. West, 4115 So. 3rd East, from 1 until 5 p. m. Friends and relatives are cordially invited but are requested I Mrs. West s actual X. Dirtnaay is today (Friday). She was born in England on Feb. 15, 1865. She was married to John W. P. West Sept, 10, 1889 in England. They came to Utah in 1899 as converts to the LDS Church. They resided for a short time in Nephi and Spring City, Sanpete County, before moving to Murray. Active in LDS church work, Mrs. West has served as president of the Primary Assn. of Murray First ward and also of the ward Relief Society. She is the mother of six sons and daughters, five of whom are living: Mrs. May Olsen and Mr. West, Murray; Mrs. Juanita Johnson, Centerville, and Mrs. Erma Classified Section, . . Friends and relatives will pay respects Saturday at an open house honoring Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Larson, who will be 90 years old on that day. The event will be held at Mrs. Larson's residence, 6165 So. State St. and will be given by the Murray Sixth ward. Mrs. Larson has been a member for many years of the Grant ward, which was split into Grant and South Grant, the latter being renamed the Sixth. A native of Gottland, Sweden, Mrs. Larson was born Feb. 16, 1862, a daughter of Anders Carl Larson and Christina Catrina Bjorkander. She came to Utah just before the turn of the cen tury as a convert to the LDS church. She was married to C. P. Larson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1900. The couple settled first in Union, moving shortly later to Murray, where Mrs. Larson has since resided. Her husband died following an accident about f ..Ml J ID ) Mrs. Mary West . observes her 87th . George Sluga was the big gun for the L & H Tobacco five, the league leaders. He had a 613 series, and was aided by Jim Abplanalp who contributed a 575 series, including games of 212 and 207. Pete Yano came up with a 594 series, including games of 200 and 201, to pace the Keate-Miln- e boys to their win. Jim Lindow led the Pronto Drive Inn's losing cause with a 562 series, with a high game of 200. Jim Smith (the Jims had it Tuesday night) rolled a 203 game and 569 series for Ravarino Service, but Jorry Vacu- lins 214 and 210 games and 603 series for Pabst Blue Ribbon was l tops in that match. The first time was in 1931 when her father was the oldest, and now Mrs. Larson is the oldest of five generations. After serving 40 years as a Relief Society teacher, she still is active and attends meetings in the Murray Sixth ward. The open house will be from 2 to 5 p. in. Saturday.
