Show THE MURRAY EAGLE Honored Bride-Ele- ct j By Many Parties Honoring Miss Shirley Lassiter, Jean Walters entertained Wednesday evening at her home on South Fourth West street at a miscellaneous shower. This ushered in a week of gay events for Miss whose marriage to Bagley Dean Hoggan of Granger will be solemnized March 13 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. temple. On Thursday evening Mrs. Reynolds and Miss Virginia Foster entertained at the Foster home in Salt Lake for the Miss pre-nupti- al Las-site- r, Ar-del- bride-elec- la t. On Friday evening. Mrs. Dutch Hoggan of Granger will entertain for Miss Lassiter, and on Saturday Mrs. E. L. Lassiter, mother of the popular young miss, will entertain at the Lassiter home. 4712 South First West street. Guests will include a few close friends of both Mrs. Lassiter and FIREMEN VISIT COT1LIEB BERGER, SR. A number of the members of the Murray fire department paid a visit this week to former City Commissioif r Gottlieb Burger, Sr., at his home. Mr. Berger is often spoken of as the ' Father of the Murray Fire Department." and is an honorary member of the organization at this time. The visit was very much enjoyed by Mr. Berger and the firemen as he is in rather poor health at present and appreciates a break in the fireside confinement. Mr. Berger was city commissioner of Murray for many years and is one of the oldest residents of the city. L. I). S. Vernal Mackay of Taylorsville, has won the 1940 Carl Raymond Gray scholarship, according to an announcement made by Marden Broadbent, assistant Salt Lake county agricultural agent.
