It was too bad had to let down at this they and spoil their average, butpoint we think they will dig now to keep the average up to the point they have taken it. The Lions were in good form and allowed the City only the one run during the entire game. Gehring, pitch, was just a little off form in this game and could not hit the plate with his usual speed and skill. He allowed a number of hits before he could settle down and get hold of the ball. Puchar played good ball in right field and Jewett in center. Gerbich made some fine plays for the Firemen, too, and eood fielding saved the City from losing by a bigger score than they did. Baker and Oliver were outstanding for the City,! both at bat and on defense. Simpson played one of the best games he has turned in down at the Murray Park, and this was ono of the biggest reasons for the City's low score. Simpson burned his ball over the plate fur strike after strike called. The side retired quickly and gave the Lions most of the time at bat. Simpson's pitching is becoming better all the time, ana tr.e changing with Beany for almost every other game is bringing in better games from each of these boys. If the Lions turn in as good a game each time they pliv from now on they should start to climbing right up into the upper berth. loria Crackers j Cucumbers Tomatoes Firm - Ripe Fresh Juicy in Yz 15c ; "1c Crisp Green 3 tm. lOg 15c 13c Lbs.
