PETERS FREDERICK Frederick Peters, 557 Virginia Avenue, former Mayor of Murray and for 25 years a leader "in the community organizations of Murray was called by death at 8:45 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 1935 after several months of ill health. Mr. Peters was born September 21, 1867, at Gelderland, Holland and came to Utah at the age of 12. During his boyhood years he worked on a farm near Taylors-villAs a young man he entered the business world as a moler for the Union Pacific railway. Later he entered the mattress and upholstery business and made his home in Murray in 1900. Until 1912 Mr. Peters was in business in Murray following the paper hanging and interior decorating line. In the year 1912 he took the post of City Marshall and occupied this office until 1916. During the period 1916 to 1931 Mr. Peters was the Health Officer for Murray City. He became Mayor in 1932 and held this office until 1934. The new Murray City Electric Power plant was completed during his term as Mayor. Throughout his adult lifetime, Mr. Peters was prominent in the Fraternal organizations or wur ray City.
