The late asters and salvias that have escaped Jack Frost and the fall chrysanthemums and Virginia Creepers are a riot of reds, purples ami bronzes. A drive through the canyons will reveal a blaze of color in the autumn leaves. The quaking asps are vivid yellow and the oaks and maples are examples of color harmony in innumerable shades of pale pinks and yellows, startling verinillious and flashing while the tall, stately evergreens give startling contrasts, and the blue sky provides a background for the majestic picture no artist could paint. Mature seems to be outdoing herself to give us beautiful memories to tide over the cold winter 'til spring comes again. But when the flowers are gone and the leaves have fallen and the last stray birds are southward bound, then indeed are the days melancholy. The cold November winds play mournful music in the barren trees; the sun Is cold and wintry; the few chattering sparrows hop about in search of food. Opposite City Hall TATEGRID TITLE TEhe The "Granite lighting Farmers" won the state football title by defeating the Box Elder "Bees" in the championship finals la the "IT stadium, Saturday Nov. 29. Led by excellent team work and spirit the Granite eleven went la-tthe game determined to win and returned victorious. In the first quarter of the game the Farmers exchanged blow (or blow and then started a march toward the opponents goal line. Tbla watch was ended however, by the strong "Bee" line. The Bees kicked out of danger and the Granite back-Helreceived the bail and again started a march. After a few lengthy gains by Kramer and Anderson the ball had advanced a good distance down the field. Buehner shot a beautiful pass into Jackson's arms and the slippery "Turk" took the ball over for a touchdown. The Farmers advanced the ball for large gains by means of passes and plunges. The game wag on about an equal footing until the final quarter when the Farmers oismed up with some classy passing plays. They completely bewildered the opposing eleven. The passes put the ball close to the lino when Anderson buck it over. After this second counter both teams used the aerial attack and in a dcsierate attempt to score by this method the Bee passer flipped a pass to Driggs who advanced the oval over the opposing goal line for the third touchdown of the game. The playing field was hard and slippery and greatly handicapped the players. Anderson was unsurpassed In his line plunging, Kramer did some excellent running around the ends and Turk was spectacular in his open field running as well as off tackle drives. Buehner did some wonderful passing. The whole line functioned in championship style, with Guuderson and Crow- ton and Klinhel standing out In their breaks through the line to throw the "Hee" backs for loawa twice after time. Driggs played' well at center and on defense of passes uuiklug the game one of the championship calibre. 0 (Sift 0 The very foundation of happiness, security and success is good health!
